The branches look intriguing, but I find the leaves to be distracting–the arrangement and focus of the leaves takes me away from the power of the branches.
At a first look, I was pulled in to the simple and strong feel of the image. After reading the comments of others, and simply holding a hand up to simulate a crop of different edges, I agree that less could be more. (which is something I need to focus on in my own work).
I see the state of NH in the negative space on the left. Cool that its an apple tree.

I agree with Laura on this picture. I think the apple, a few leaves and a branch would have been sufficient.
