  1. The black and white emphasizes the lines and textures, which I like a lot. Good composition, good tonality, but I also wonder what it would look like with deeper blacks and higher contrast.

  2. I too would like a deeper black. I want to know more about these Sugar Kings. Aged wood gives any composition interest. I love the stacked wood positioned next to the milled lumber of the siding. Good use of texture. Really nice.

  3. Love the processing in black and white. It really brings out the tones in the old wooden siding. I think I would like to see the rest of the shed roof or the rear of the shack but not sure it would add to the image. Very nice!

  4. Thanks for all your kind comments. About deepening the blacks, there is a trade off. The deeper the blacks, the more the texture of the wood disappears. It occurred to me after reading your comments that the one thing I didn’t try was filtering at different wavelengths (colors). Sometimes a yellow or orange filter will bring out tones in the wood better than using white light.
The Sugar Kings shack is on Schoodac Rd. in Warner and is still in operation. They’ve laid in the wood for next season and you can’t even see the front of the shack anymore.
