  1. I call this image “suspended,” which seems to fit with the times. It was made in the atrium of the Whitehall Hotel in Houston (site of the FotoFest portfolio reviews). I climbed the stairs until I was about level with the lights and, as I didn’t have my “real” camera, I used my iPhone in portrait mode, which can darken the background. I further darkened the background by using a curves layer in Photoshop.

  2. This photo feels very “sculptural” to me, that is, I’m very aware of the shapes in space. Very nice.

  3. Larry: great subject and I love it in b&w. I think I see some shades of gray in the background. Could they be painted black?

  4. Larry, I always look forward to your images and think ‘suspended’ is an apt name for this photo. Although suspended there is a feeling that at any time these lights will simply float away out of the frame. I agree with Jay’s comment about the gray in the upper right side of the photo.

  5. HI–this is my favorite photo of the round. One of my friends had 24 photos at Houston foto-fest, but couldn’t attend due to travel restrictions from Italy.
