Peoples’ reactions are interesting. I would not want to explore this alleyway. It looks like the the kind of place where people (especially women) get mugged or kidnapped. That doesn’t mean I don’t like the photo – I do, it is very strong. Just that I had a visceral reaction to it.
You might consider cloning out (or burning down) the small white square just above the door on the left center of the frame. It adds nothing but attracts the eye.
I like all the technical things about this wonderful image. Emotionally, I visualize the countless generations of villagers walking through this narrow footway over many hundreds of years. Very briefly I lived in a place like this. It was thrilling. This evokes that to me.
I echo what has been said about the beauty of this space as you have rendered it with its black and white textures. As I look at it, I wonder if it might be a little stronger if the camera was placed at ground level instead of eye level.
