  1. This is a deceptively simple picture that becomes more dynamic the more I look at it. The verticals on the right side are a treat by themselves, with the various tones and widths. The right side feels compressed (rippled), contrasting with the left side that is spread out and mostly smooth. The door knob (to me) seems to nail the whole thing down, but at the same time it’s being pulled (visually) by the plate just to its right.
    Then there’s the interesting question: what’s on the other side?

  2. Wonderful! In addition to the masterful simplicity and composition, it provides a space for me—the viewer—to fill in my own way. One could see the dark space behind the opening door as a place of either dread or promise. I find myself thinking of the promise, wanting the door to open more.
